Home Efficiency Rebate Plus

Enbridge Gas is currently reaching out to homeowners who do not have a post-retrofit assessment booked or completed via email and direct mail communication. Please ensure that you carefully review your spam or junk email folders for any missed communications about your application. Program participants who fail to respond to communications from Enbridge Gas may see their file closed.
As of Feb. 5, 2024, the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus program, in partnership with Natural Resources is no longer accepting new applicants. Homeowners who are already participating are encouraged to proceed in a timely manner with their retrofits and will continue to be eligible for funding and support through the Canada Greener Homes portal.
If you have not scheduled your post-retrofit assessment or E-audit, you should schedule one as soon as possible as funding will be provided on a first come, first served basis.
If you have completed your post-retrofit energy assessment or E-audit, funding is allocated for you, however you still need to ensure you complete all program requirements and have your post-retrofit assessment and associated documentation submitted by your Service Organization for verification prior to issuance of the rebate payment.

Yes,
Enbridge Gas collects insight on participant interest and stages of program in
various ways. By clicking the link and entering in your pre-retrofit energy
assessment file number you are helping us verify and reconcile the status of
your file. This will allow as many homeowners as
possible to participate in the program. Grants are awarded on a
first-come, first-served basis until Natural Resources Canada funding is fully
allocated.
Your
pre-audit file number is a ten-digit number that can be found on top of your
Renovation Upgrade Report, your first Homeowner Information Sheet, or on your
Participant Agreement. The 5th number should be a “D”. If you cannot find this
number please reach out to your Registered Energy Advisor.
As a result of this update, companies unaffiliated with Enbridge Gas or the Canada Greener Homes Grant may take advantage and promote misinformation through various channels such as (but not limited to) social media, print ads, email, phone, TV and radio ads. Given the high demand for the program and the number of households that have participated, we have successfully filled all available spots earlier than expected with regard to the joint funding between Enbridge Gas and the Canada Greener Homes Grant.
No, if you have already completed your pre-retrofit energy assessment by Feb. 5, 2024, this should not impact you as long as your pre-retrofit energy assessment was documented in our system. If you are unsure please reach out to your Registered Energy Advisor.
Currently, we are only accepting pre-retrofit energy assessments completed on or before Feb. 5, 2024. If you have a pre-retrofit energy assessment scheduled after Feb. 5, 2024, you do not qualify for Home Efficiency Rebate Plus rebates, as it is past the cut-off date. If you would like to stay informed on new program offerings, please provide your email address and we will notify you as they become available.

There is no impact to Canada Greener Homes Loan applications. Homeowners who wish to participate in the program can still contact a service organization to schedule a pre retrofit energy assessment which is required in order to create a loan application.

You should receive your rebate cheque approximately 24-32 weeks after your Registered Energy Advisor submits your application. This is a temporary delay because of an abundance of applications. We are working to process these applications as quickly as possible. Make sure you’ve provided your Registered Energy Advisor with the best address to send your cheque to, so it arrives as soon as possible. We also ask for your email to provide you with updates along the way.

If you encounter any issues or concerns regarding any of the authorized retrofits, upgrades or improvements implemented as part of the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) program, or any issues or concerns regarding the contractor you have hired to implement any such authorized retrofits, upgrades or improvements, you must address such issues or concerns directly with the contractor. Enbridge Gas is not affiliated with any such contractor, and is in no way responsible for referring, selecting, or directly contracting with any such contractors.
There could be two reasons why you received this note
- All applicants who did their pre-retrofit energy assessment before July 1, 2023 were sent a letter and/or email survey asking for an update on the status of their energy efficient retrofits and post-retrofit energy assessment. Those who responded saying they are no longer interested or did not respond have been opted-out and will no longer be eligible for rebates through the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus program.
- Any Canada Greener Homes Grant applicant that was notified they have been removed from the Canada Greener Homes Grant program through the Natural Resources Canada portal due to inactivity is not eligible to transfer to HER+. These applicants would have received communication directly from Natural Resources Canada and are no longer able to reactivate their application in the Greener Homes Portal or transfer to HER+ program as a result.
