At your door
At Enbridge Gas Ohio, all employees and authorized contractors are required to wear visible photo identification.
Enbridge Gas Ohio does not perform physical meter readings. Our meters are read remotely. An Enbridge Gas Ohio field technician will not come to your door asking to gain entry to your home to read a meter.
If you have an inside meter, a technician must inspect it every 36 months per US DOT regulations. You will receive communication about this service and are required to schedule it through our call center or Manage Your Account. You should not receive an unexpected visit from a technician claiming to need to access your meter for an inspection.
If there is a gas service interruption in your area, a field technician will come to your home to relight appliances after service has been restored. An automated phone call (robocall) is sent to all customers impacted by an outage unless they have opted out of such calls. You can verify whether your gas service is on by checking the pilot light of a natural gas appliance in your home.
Natural Gas Marketers
Occasionally, you may be visited by someone offering you a lower rate on your natural gas (they often will offer lower rates on electric service as well). These marketers represent suppliers through the Energy Choice program. While their organizations work with Enbridge Gas Ohio to supply natural gas to customers, they do not work for Enbridge Gas Ohio. If a marketer claims to be an employee of Enbridge Gas Ohio, please ask to see identification. This identification should include the name of the company that they represent. You can submit a complaint to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio at (800) 686-7826 if a supplier marketer misrepresents themselves. Learn more about the Energy Choice Program.
