To support the development of lower-carbon renewable energy in Ontario and to meet the requirements of a customer, Enbridge Gas is proposing to build a new pipeline and injection station to connect renewable natural gas (RNG) produced at the Moose Creek Landfill in Moose Creek, southeast of Ottawa, to the existing Enbridge Gas distribution network in the area.
The proposed project will involve the construction of approximately 13.2 km of 8-inch and 6-inch extra-high pressure steel pipeline in two geographically separated segments to best accommodate the volume of renewable natural gas being added to the network. The Casselman Segment will be located in the municipalities of United Counties of Prescott and Russell and the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, while the Ottawa Segment will be located in the City of Ottawa.
The proposed preliminary preferred route for the Casselman Segment pipeline will start at the RNG injection station located at the producer facility at 17125 Lafleche Road, travel west on Lafleche Road, then north on private lands. The pipeline then turns west onto Route 700, then north across Highway 417 and through unopened road allowance, before turning west on Route 600 East, then north on Brebeuf Street, then west on Montcalm Street, then north on Principale Street to its termination point just east of the South Nation River in Casselman.
Two alternate routes for the Casselman Segment are also being considered:
- Alternative Route 1: Commencing at a renewable natural gas injection station at the producer facility located at 17125 Lafleche Road in Moose Creek, the pipeline travels west on Lafleche Road, and north on private lands. The pipeline then turns west on Route 700, then turns north and crosses Highway 417 and continues north along Gagne Sideroad before turning west on Route 600 East. The pipeline then turns north on Principale Street to its termination point just east of the South Nation River in Casselman.
- Alternative Route 2: Commencing at a renewable natural gas injection station at the producer facility located at 17125 Lafleche Road in Moose Creek, the pipeline travels east on Lafleche Road, then north on private lands. The pipeline then turns west on Route 700 and north on Principale Street before crossing Highway 417 and continues to its termination point just east of the South Nation River in Casselman.
The proposed preliminary preferred route for the Ottawa Segment pipeline will commence at the intersection of Stone School Road and Bank Street, then proceeds north to its termination point at the intersection of Greys Creek Road and Bank Street in Ottawa.
One alternate route for the Ottawa Segment is also being considered:
- Alternative Route 1: Commencing at the intersection of Stone School Road and Bank Street, the pipeline proceeds west along Stone School Road and then turns north along Greys Creek Road to its termination point at the intersection of Greys Creek Road and Bank Street in Ottawa.
