Project updates

To accommodate construction work on this project, road and lane closures were required in summer and fall 2023.

All necessary closures are now complete, and the roads have been fully reopened.

Community Investment Funding – Applications open

Enbridge Gas is committed to supporting our communities. As work on the Dawn to Corunna Project proceeds, community investment funds are available for qualified charitable and non-profit organizations serving St. Clair Township, Dawn-Euphemia, Sarnia and Lambton County.

Like many organizations, we receive numerous funding requests. To make the largest impact on our communities, we have a focused giving program. Our funding is directed to qualified organizations and programs that focus on community vitality, safety and sustainability.

Details about our three focus areas, as well as criteria and eligibility requirements, are available on Enbridge Gas’ giving guidelines webpage. Please review these details prior to submitting an application. You can then select “apply online” at the bottom of the page. When asked “Have you spoken to anyone at Enbridge Gas about this application?” select “Yes” and list “Dawn to Corunna” when prompted for the Enbridge Gas employee details. Note that not all applications will receive funding.

Only applications from the above listed geographic areas that meet all outlined criteria will be considered for funding. Applications for funding will be accepted until the Spring of 2024, however, please note that we cannot guarantee funds will available by the time your application is received.

Indigenous and community engagement

Engagement with Indigenous communities, landowners, government agencies, the general public and other interested persons is an integral component of the planning process for this project. As a result of the social distancing requirements set out by the province of Ontario, due to COVID-19, virtual information sessions held in place of in-person information sessions.

Public notification

Project commencement letters

Notice of project commencement letters were mailed out to the OPCC, agencies, local Municipalities, directly and indirectly affected landowners, and Indigenous communities the week of April 19, 2021.

Newspaper advertisements

The notice of project commencement was published in the Sarnia Observer on April 27, 2021 and Sarnia This Week on April 29, 2021.

Regulatory information

The project is regulated by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), an independent government agency that regulates the electricity and natural gas sectors. After a public review and hearing, the OEB has issued its Decision and Order, granting Leave to Construct this project. In this section, you can review all regulatory files about the project.

Environment assessment

The purpose of the environmental assessment is to: identify any potential impacts of the proposed project on the social, economic and natural environments; identify local or provincial concerns regarding the proposed Project; determine preferred routing of the pipeline segments (and if alternate routing is practical); gather input from agencies, stakeholders, Indigenous and Métis communities, affected landowners and the public. As well, mitigation measures are recommended to limit impacts on the social, economic and natural environments. It is important to minimize potential impacts of the proposed natural gas distribution pipelines and associated facilities on the environment. On March 21, 2022, Enbridge Gas filed a Leave to Construct application with the Ontario Energy Board (OEB).
