No-cost energy efficient upgrades for income-qualifying customers
At Enbridge Gas North Carolina, we're committed to helping all our customers have an energy-efficient and comfortable home. So, we offer an income-qualifying weatherization assistance program to provide no cost energy efficient upgrades.
The program is available to eligible customers in our North Carolina natural gas service territory. If you qualify, an energy expert will examine your home, generate a custom energy assessment report, and install the selected energy-saving products to help you. No products will be installed without your permission.
Eligibility
This program is available to income-qualified residential customers in our North Carolina natural gas service territory who either have natural gas space heating or water heating equipment in their home.
- Both single and multi-family residences are eligible.
- Annual Household income requirements determined by NCDEQ eligibility guidelines. Example: A family of three would be eligible if their annual income is less than 49,720.
Interested customers should call their local assistance agencies to see to see if they qualify.
Energy-saving upgrades may include:
- Air sealing
- Duct sealing
- Energy-efficiency showerheads
- Faucet aerators
- Attic, wall, and floor insulation
- Energy Star clothes washer
- Energy Star gas dryer
- Energy Star-Smart Thermostat

Energy assessments and installations will be conducted by qualified, local weatherization service providers who currently offer weatherization related services through the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality and have been approved by Enbridge Gas to complete assessments and install the selected energy-saving products.
A typical assessment through the Weatherization Assistance Program will take approximately 1-2 hours. The energy expert will let you how long it will take to install the improvements, depending on the size of the premise this may take one or more days. In addition, you may also be eligible to participate in the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Weatherization Assistance Program. Discuss with your weatherization service provider the time commitment necessary to participate.
Yes. You will be asked to read and sign the program consent form that states that you desire to have the work performed and that either you are the homeowner or that you are authorized by the homeowner to have the improvements made to your premise. No energy measure will be installed without your permission. You must be a Enbridge Gas residential natural gas customer in North Carolina.
