To get started with Enbridge Gas, first find out if we’re in your area.

Natural gas installation process

If natural gas is available in your area, follow this step-by-step guide to install natural gas in your home.

  • Number 1

An Enbridge Gas representative will meet with you at your home. The appropriate gas meter location will be determined and paperwork will be completed to generate your order. Once your paperwork is signed, you will need to call and set up your account at 877-584-7762. A credit check is required.

  • Number 2

An Enbridge Gas representative will install the service line from the street to your home. Digging is required, but we will reseed the dig site and replace landscaping if necessary.

  • Number 3

Enbridge Gas or another contractor of your choice, will run the inside gas piping to the location where your gas meter will be set. They may also be able to connect and convert your appliances.*

  • Number 4

The contractor will file for a permit and call to have their work inspected. Your local city/county inspectors department will handle the inspection.

  • Number 5

Once the inspection occurs and is approved, contact us at 877-584-7762 to schedule an appointment to have your natural gas meter set and activated.

  • Number 6

Once the gas meter is activated, your contractor will need to return to your home to start your appliances and make sure they are working safely.

Enbridge Gas North Carolina appliance sales, installation, maintenance, and repair programs are not a part of the regulated services offered by Enbridge Gas North Carolina and are not in any way sanctioned by the North Carolina Utilities Commission.

* Most propane appliances including furnaces, stoves, grills, and dryers can be converted to run on natural gas. Most propane water heaters cannot be converted. A contractor of your choice can assist you in converting your appliances to run on natural gas.
