Ways to conserve energy & manage your bill this winter
Enbridge Gas North Carolina offers tips to reduce your energy use and manage your bill this winter.

Is your energy bill higher than you’ve seen it in a while? This is common during winter months when heating systems are working around the clock to keep homes at a comfortable temperature. Enbridge Gas offers tips on how to reduce your energy use and manage your bill this winter.

When temperatures drop, energy use goes up.
During colder months, heating can account up to 47 percent* of energy use in normal weather (more in extreme cold):
- Keep your thermostat set at 68℉ or lower.
- Limit the use of electric space heaters for supplemental heating.
- Get an HVAC tune-up annually.
- Change filters monthly or when dirty.
- Set your water heater to "warm," or 120℉.

Being home more means more energy use
Make the most of your energy:
- Choose energy-efficient devices and appliances.
- Upgrade to ENERGY STAR® certified LED bulbs.
- Check ductwork for leaks/tears and repair as needed.
- Unplug devices not in use and consider using advanced power strips.
