Moving within Enbridge Gas' service area?
Moving can be stressful, but our goal is to make sure transferring your current service to your new home is as smooth as possible.
You can also move your service by calling 1-800-323-5517 to speak with an agent. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. MT.
Tips for transferring your service
-
Provide advance notice
We recommend at least seven business days in advance, but please provide as much notice as possible so we can schedule the request for when you need. We work Monday through Friday only (excluding holidays), 8 a.m. to midnight. If an adult is required to be present to provide access to the property, 4-hour time-frames may be available. The time frames are mornings (8 a.m. to noon), afternoons (noon to 4 p.m.) and evenings (4 p.m. to 8 p.m.). The availability of an evening time-frame varies by location.
If the meter at your new address is OFF:
- The meter will be unlocked on the date requested and left in the off position.
- You do not need to be present, but please ensure your meter is clear and accessible.
- When the meter is unlocked and ready to be turned on, a tag will be attached to meter with instructions.
- A qualified individual will need to turn on the gas meter, as well as check and light natural gas appliances.
- There will be a $15 (plus tax) connection fee on your first bill (Utah and Idaho only).
If the meter at the new address is ON:
- Service at this address will be transferred into your name on the day requested.
- You do not need to be present.
- There will be an $8 (plus tax) connection fee on your first bill (Utah and Idaho only). -
Meter accessibility
No one needs to be present if the meter is located outside and isn't obstructed by fences, trees/shrubs, buildings, animals, etc. Otherwise, an adult (18 or older) will need to provide access to the meter so we can get a final reading. We won't enter a property unless accompanied by an adult. -
Preparation for turn off
No preparation is necessary in the spring and summer months. However, during fall and winter, we recommend you winterize the property before turning off gas service so the pipes won't freeze and burst. -
Landlord agreements
Maintaining natural gas service when a property owner is between tenants prevents freezing pipes and makes service transfer easy. Read more about landlord agreements. -
Security deposit refund
We will credit the deposit (plus interest) back to the account and mail you a refund check if there's a credit remaining after the deposit is applied. You're responsible for the difference if there's a balance due after the deposit is applied. -
Final bill
Your final billing details (for the address where you are stopping service) will be included on the first or second bill for the new service address.
