Avoid seasonal ups and downs with Budget Billing
Budget Billing is an optional payment program for customers in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho that allows you to pay the same amount each month for natural gas service. The Budget Billing takes the guess-work out of paying bills by dividing your estimated annual billing amount into 12 equal payments.
Eligibility
- All residential and small commercial customers who owe no more than their current bill are eligible.
How it works:
- We estimate your annual usage based on your billing history. Then, using current rates, we calculate an annual billing amount and divide by 12 to determine your monthly Budget Billing payment for the year.
- After you enroll in Budget Billing, we continue to read your meter and list the actual gas used on your monthly statement. Your monthly bill shows your actual current gas bill even though you only pay the monthly budget plan amount.
- Your bill will also show your budget plan balance that represents the amount you have paid during the plan year that is more or less than the total of your actual gas bills for the same period. This will appear as either a debit or credit.
- Throughout the year, we compare your actual usage to the estimated amount used to calculate your monthly budget plan payment and determine if a change needs to be made. If your usage is higher or lower than expected, or if there has been a significant rate change, we adjust your payment to keep your account in balance.
How budget amount is calculated
- We first review consumption history for the service address. Then, we estimate future gas use based on normal weather and, if applicable, future rate adjustments during the year.
- The budget amount is reviewed each May and November, and periodically in between, if necessary.
Moving
- If you move within Enbridge Gas’ service territory, your budget plan balance can be transferred to your new residence.
- Please contact us by calling 1-800-323-5517 to arrange for service and to determine your new Budget Billing amount.
- If you are moving to a new residence, you can still participate in the budget plan unless there is no billing history for the residence. We will estimate your budget plan amount based on the historical usage at the premises but keep in mind that family size, usage habits and other factors can affect the billing amount.
Stop Budget Billing anytime
- You can stop budget plan at any time by simply notifying us by calling 1-800-323-5517 or sign into your account.
- When you stop using the Budget Billing, you will receive a refund or a charge equal to the Budget Billing balance due on your next bill.
- You will be dropped from Budget Billing if you miss two payments.
