Enbridge Gas is advancing the Southern System Expansion Project to support the continued growth of Washington County and nearby areas, serving residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Beginning January 2025, Phase III of the project will expand feeder gas lines from Dammeron Valley to Ledges. These feeder lines are larger steel pipelines that supply smaller main and individual service lines connected to meters at homes and businesses. Phase II covered the Central to Veyo area, while Phase I involved installing a 12-inch high-pressure pipeline from the St. George station at Snow Canyon Parkway to 3050 East.
Project overview
Project need: The Feeder Line 135 (FL135) Pipeline Upgrade Project is essential to meet increased demand for natural gas due to customer growth in the southern part of the state. This project will also enhance the ability to deliver safe, reliable service by making the system easier to monitor and maintain.
Location: The project involves the installation of approximately 10 miles of 20-inch-diameter natural gas pipeline from Dammeron to Ledges, running along Highway 18. (Refer to the map for the exact route.)
Construction schedule: To expedite progress, multiple crews will work simultaneously in different locations. Crews may also work at night and on weekends. Construction is set to start in January 2025 and continue through December 2025, subject to weather and other conditions.
Temporary lane restrictions and road closures may occur in work zones, although road closures are unlikely. Any necessary closures will be managed to minimize impact. Every effort will be made to maintain access to businesses and driveways in work areas. No interruptions to natural gas service are expected during this project.
Questions or concerns: For more information, contact us at 801-324-3884 or email us, referencing FL135.
Project updates
The project is currently under bid, and the contractor will be announced soon.

Construction process
Enbridge Gas and its pipeline contractor are committed to completing this project safely and on schedule while minimizing inconvenience to local businesses and residents. To achieve this, some work may be conducted at night and on weekends to lessen impacts on daily commutes. We will adhere to county noise-reduction ordinances.
Construction zones
For sections of pipe installed beneath streets or highways, work may temporarily close one or more traffic lanes. Driveways may be intermittently blocked by excavation; however, open trenches will be plated to allow access during business hours, at night, and on weekends.
Before work begins in front of any home or business, a representative will contact the owner or resident to discuss maintaining driveway access. Signs stating that businesses remain open during construction are available upon request.
To complete the project on schedule, the work will be divided into sections, or "spreads," enabling multiple crews to work in various locations at once. Work zones may range from a single intersection to several blocks, and the time needed for activities—such as cutting pavement, digging trenches, installing pipe, and repaving—may range from days to weeks.
Public safety measures
Residents can contribute to safety and timely construction by choosing alternate routes, driving carefully in construction zones, and keeping children away from work areas. Enbridge Gas works closely with county and state officials to ensure public safety and minimize inconvenience, though temporary closures of streets or sidewalks may be necessary. We will strive to keep these disruptions brief, and your patience is appreciated.
